E is the major envelope glycoprotein with dual function: protein receptor and important producer of neutralising antibodies during immune response. It is also responsible for the virus adhesion to host membrane.
As some human normal sera contains IgG antibodies against mannan, they can interact with the CCD structures of the proteins produced in Pichia pastoris. With addition of this sorbent, the anti-CCD antibodies will be kidnapped, and the specificity of the assay will increase.
Also avaliable for detection of West Nile virus infection in animals
