flagellin is the flagella antigen, d, of Salmonella typhi, which is present as a phase-l antigen, and corresponds to the 52 kDa-flagellin antigen. Salmonella serotypes usually alternated between the production of the antigenic forms of flagella, termed "phase-I" and "phase-2". Some species, including Salmonella typhi are monophasic, with only a phase-l antigen.
