Monoclonal antibodies with unlimited production offering higher specificity
Monoclonal antibodies offer greater specificity than polyclonal antibodies, as they bind to a single epitope or antigenic determinant of the immunogen protein. They are obtained by fusing a B lymphocyte from an immunized mouse with a tumor cell to create a hybridoma that produces antibodies indefinitely.
Regarding monoclonal antibodies, the first ones we will offer are:
- Anti-p27 (FeLV) for antigen detection in feline sera
- Anti-Chagas for antigen detection in human sera
ADVANTAGES
- High specificity. Lower cross-reactivity and fewer false positives.
- Reproducible. Can be produced in large quantities with consistent quality.
- Unlimited production. Does not require repeated animal immunization.
DISADVANTAGES
- More expensive and slower production. Requires advanced technology (cell cultures).
- Lower sensitivity in some assays as they recognize only one epitope, and their interaction may be affected if the antigen changes its conformation.
