Recombinant antigens
KMP11
for Leishmania infantum
The KMP11 protein is an 11 kDa kinetoplast membrane protein. The absence of antibodies against this protein has been reported in the majority of asymptomatic Leishmania-infected individuals; therefore, a serological assay using this recombinant antigen could be useful for detecting visceral leishmaniasis, allowing for the differentiation between active disease and subclinical Leishmania infections
