Recombinant antigen gG2 for Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2)

Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2)

gG2 contains the immunogenic regions of the glycoprotein G from the Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). The envelope glycoprotein G (gG) proteins are the only HSV antigens known to induce type-specific antibody responses and are therefore used in serological assays to discriminate between HSV-1 and HSV-2 infection. Although exist a strong serological cross-reactivity between HSV-1 and HSV-2, the use of the recombinant HSV-2 glycoprotein G (gG2) allows determining only HSV-2 type specific IgG antibodies. Prompt recognition of herpes simplex infection and early initiation of therapy are of utmost importance in the managing of the disease.

Recombinant antigen for the diagnosis of Genital herpes caused by Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), a human infectious disease.
